You are correct about Maine being BIG. For me to fish the Rapid River it 110 miles one way, have to get up at 4am to do a day trip. Takew me about 6 1/2 hours to get to GLS. I have not fished there in awhile because of that. Are you going to give it a try??

Lee, I'm seriously thinking about trying GLS this year as it's not too far of a drive. I see that the Canal Cabin website has a small map of GLS with pools and pine store marked. Word is on FFIM that they have good sandwiches so I don't have to worry about lunch. I'm going to lurk for a bit on FFIM and I'm sure that there be more chat about that spot. She's still locked up tight with ice up here and now at least I can see the top of my boat. I really don't know of any rivers in NB where you could reliabily fish for landlock salmon, aside from incidental catches when people are fishing creek mouths early in the spring for perch etc. My Dad once told me that there were LLS in the Maguagadavic river but I've never heard of anyone catching one. Maybe the St Croix river has them seems when I was a kid people used to fish for them there but I haven't heard anything since then. Mostly we fish LLS in lakes trolling for ones that were stocked every few years.

Lee, man thats a big state that you live in. I was just doing some messing around on google maps and its 250 miles from Acton Maine to Grand Lake Stream. From my house in Oromocto, NB it's only 113 miles, only 74 miles from my Mother in laws place in Harvey. Ofcourse the down side is that your only going to be 38 miles from the new Cabelas that's opening in Scarborough and I'm 337 miles.
