From what I see on the first link you had posted, that Non-Residents and Alien are the same. You can get a 1 day license for $11 + $2 (agent fee) in Maine. I think the state looks at both (Alien and NR) as the same.
Hope this helps.
Are you coming to Maine to fish this year??. Let me know if you are.
Lee
Well Lee, not to invite myself or anything but I've been doing some reading on Grand Lake Stream and it's portrayed as a world class fishery. Then I'm adding up the math on the miles from my house, an hour to Saint John, another hour to St Stephen, cross the border to Calais then what half an hour to Grand Lake Stream? For someone who drives an Echo that's do able in a day. Take off an hour if I stay out at the mother in laws in Harvey. So I'm asking myself why I'm not trying the fishing there, it's really no further away than some of the places that I fish on the Miramichi. For $13.00 a day, thats a very resonable price. From what I've read for Landlocks anyway and correct me if I'm wrong, it's more of a spring and then a fall fishery?

Hi Bill
I have fished Grand Lake Stream, and it is a very good fishery, and yes it is spring and fall fishing. They should be alover it today, opening day here in Maine. One thing I think you would be better to cross at McAdams into the states. Not sure of the route number in Canada but its route 6 in the states, go west to route 1 then south about 10 miles then west on road into GLS. Another 10 miles or so. Go to the Pine Tree store for info where to fish.

OK that sounds good as I'm from McAdam. Would they actually be catching anything there this early?? Wouldn't GLS still be frozen??

Bill the river is open and the flow is high for this time of year, 730+ CFS (cubic feet per second) which is high, normal is 200+ CFS. There should be a lot of fish in that river now and the fishing will be good until mid to late May. Check out the site "Fly Fishing in Maine" (link on this site) and see if you can find any posts on that forum about fishing GLS.

Lee, I guess it's hard to get your head wrapped around the fact that not everything freezes solid as the SJR and Miramichi do. So if the Landlocks hit GLS early I'm guessing that their chasing a smelt run into the river?? Or perhaps a run of swapning suckers to eat their eggs? OK so the river is quite high so probably the best fishing would be after it drops and clears a bit. Yes I will check that site to see what people are saying.
Thanks
BG
Lee, here's one for you
I see that for a season fishing license there are three categories, Resident, Non-Resident and Alien. I always though that Aliens were from outerspace however I would guess (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the meaning is of Alien is a person who isn't a resident of the US such as myself. And the Non-Resident would be a resident of the US but not of the State of Maine? Am I right so far.
Anyway I see that the 24 hour Non-Resident fishing license is just $11.00, I'm just trying to figure out if I qualify for that one or not. There is no listing for a 24 hour Alien fishing license. Here are the links that I was looking at;
http://www.maine.gov/ifw/licenses_permits/fishing.htm#combinationhuntandfish
http://mainegov-images.informe.org/ifw/laws_rules/pdf/openwaterlaws_2008.pdf
The licenses are on page 62 of the Fishing Summary.
Thanks
