By that question I am saying who thinks that there should be an opening day like Maine has on April 1 or do you think that what New Hampshire does is better having opening of open water be Jan 1. Personally I think NH has it right and that Maine has it wrong. From my experiance New Brunswick has it correct as well with April 15, most years the ice has just gone out so you are fishing as soon as possible. Any other ideas on this subject guys.

With me in South Dakota I'm kind of spoiled no closing day Mr. Green I agree Lee as soon as ice out have at it. But there would be problems for some people with their definition of ice out, Now does that mean the ice is gone completely ? Does it depend on the region you live in ? Does it mean the whole entire State has to be ice free ? Does it apply to streams, rivers, lakes ? Then there is the safety issue ( high water ) I say just have open season all year long. Most people won;t take advantage or it anyways because of weather conditions, Only the few would brave the conditions. Others would be hunting. So the spawn is pretty much protected Mother Nature will see to that. Hope that answers your question Lee.

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
