For one thing I don't do winter fishing. But as you said dipping the rod seems to work best. I have had to do it in the early spring over at Alton Bay. I have herd that Armoral does a good job, but I have never done it.

I was wondering how mucilin might work. I put the boo away for the winter. Guess I should bring out the graphite and try it out
Just read mucilin works best. Use the green label brand
If you try it before I do let us know how it works.
i have some of the red label but will have to order the green.

Keith I sure will. That is if we get freezing weather again . Been a weird winter . Heck we had 78F last Friday .
So I occasionally like to fish the open spots on the local river in the winter. The last few times I have done this I lost some very nice fish because the line was frozen solid in the guides. I have tried dipping, Pam, and even a couple of commercially made products but still the ice forms at the most inopportune times. So far dipping works the best but the effects are short lived, especially if I have a long drift and there is spray coming of the drops and rapids.
So what have others found that works?
