Not happy about the hot weather but I guess I knew it was coming . Planing on some early AM fly fishing .How do you folks beat the dog days of summer ?

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

We've been fishing for bass.  It's been fun and challenging learning to cast the bait caster and fishing the rubber baits.  I made a light weight bait casting rod out of a spin/jig  blank that I thought was a bit too stiff for Jack's spinning rod.  But we also used Lee's method yesterday and fished the Wild River for a few hours mid day.  It was Jack's first try at fly fishing on a stream. It wasn't an ideal time, but lots of room to cast and lots of pools to fish.  I went swimming while we were at it to cool off.  Got a couple rainbows and a little brookie, all in the faster moving pocket water.
