Polish Woven Nymphs can be tied with wire, or, embroidery thread and make some very realistic flies.

Also referred to as the Czech nymph, they add a new dimension to nymph fishing.

I first attempted to do woven nymphs on a Nor Vise. Not the right tool for the job. It works great on about any standard rotary vise with some heft in the base.

This video shows a woven nymph done with two colors of wire.

And this one shows it being done with the thread.

The bobbins work well for this as you can keep the thread pressure right and get an even color line along the sides of the fly. The first time you try this it will seem rather awkward. One of the keys is turning the vise over.. After a few attempts you'll find it quite easy to do.

I like the way the bodies of the nymphs come out oval or flatish rather than the traditional cylindercal body, more like the naturals.

cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
