Things are heating up big time and fast! I wanted to try out a new location before it gets too warm to do so and I had a few hours to spare the other day.  I arrived at the trailhead around 1pm and hiked in for a bout 1.5 miles until I could hear the sweet gurgle of the mountain stream.  Just before I left the trail for the water I came upon this little lookout, you can see the water below through the trees.

I walked down through the bush to the water and stripped off my pack and jumped in for a swim to cool off.  After that I checked the temp of the water to see if it was ok to fish.

Good to go!  I then assembled my 5'9" fiberglass rod and tied on EHC and a PT nymph and got ready to fish.  On the very fist cast I had a small fish on the PT, he managed to wiggle off as soon as I got him out of the water but I did get a shot of the pool he came from at least.

I continued to work upstream from here moving fast because I only had about 2 hours to play with.

This must of been an aged trout, was quite black and came out from under the log in the picture above to nab the PT again.

Next I ran into a nice bit of plunger pools that each contained at least one fish each.

By now it was time to head out.  Caught about a half dozen 4-6 inch fish and a bunch of smaller ones and missed a bunch more.  Curious enough not one fish was caught on the dry, even though bugs were present.  Every single one taken via nymph.  After I had broken down my rod and put everything away I went ahead and jumped into another deep pool that was over my head for one last cool off before I walked out.  Man its freaking hot out there!  Elevation is going to be my best friend for the next month or so.  Tight Lines!!
