Had an interesting afternoon fishing on Sunday in the boat. No fish but got into it with an aggressive swan. Kept coming right at us, wings in the boat, I ducked and my buddy turned the motor and I almost ended up in the drink, my arm completely submerged over the gunwale and the swan under the boat. It kept coming at us so I took a swing with the collapsible paddle and bent it to about 45 degrees across its neck as it was flying in at us. Barely phased it. Came at us again and I gave it a couple more whacks and then it left us alone for a bit, but it was pissed, standing up on the water, neck stretched out completely, wings wide open, and hissing like crazy.
He had followed us before, but never so aggressive. His mate is long gone, but maybe it's that time of year for them to get mean.
Game warden went up the river today in a canoe. Didn't see her on the river while walking the dog or the swan. I imagine it gave her a bit of a hard time so maybe they'll consider moving it somewhere else.
