Does anyone know why tying clouser minnows is best done with a straight vise like the regal?  I see the Renzetti has an adapter to make a straight shaft for tying clousers.

If I remember right...The kink in a clouser hook affects the turn on a true rotary vice...

But then I use a Regal vise for most of my tying..As I never tie small flies I have never invested

in midge jaws for  it..

Ok.  Thank you Stephen.  Maybe I am confused about what a clouser is.  I was unaware that they had a special hook.

I suppose if I was tying one I could use the simple old designed vise that I have packed away at the moment.

I tie alot of nymphs in size 16, and I even tied an adams size 18 the oher day.

I have tied a few clousers   . Thought they came out pretty good on a streamer hook. Trolled them a few years back for trout . Bows killed them that day . Not sure if they were tied right but the fish sure didnt seam to mind.

32's  holly crap . I would have to tie them under a microscope.  What pattern would you tie on that ? A midge egg ?

32Eek!  My goal is to tie a #22 Adams this winter, but a #32, can you even thread a conventional leader through that eye?

I had to go digging to find that #32 hook and here is what I found:

Tiemco TMC 518 - Midge, Dry, and Tiny emerger, D/E 3XF, variable wide gape / short shank, micro barb bronze.

"The size 32 is world's smalllest eyed "decent" fly tying hook"

So who is up for the chalenge???  I'm thinking I might be able to manage a Griffith's Knat but not much else, maybe a Near-nuff.
