Hey Caddis is this how you tie yours ?

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

There is a much better way to tie this fly; notice how his looks like Phylis Diller's hairdo?  If you tie it right the whole thing lays nice and smooth like a bullet.

Tie the wood duck feather in by the tip (tip pointed to the rear of the hook) with all but the tip pulled back, then fold one side of the barbs over and wind it forward on the flat of the quill (not the edge).   I use streamer hackle for the collar and tie it in wet fly style.  Winding the head a little further back really tucks everything in nicely as well.

Red and blaze orange have worked great this year.  I will sometimes add a little wrap of flash around the shank first as well.

Keith

Does your digital camera do video's??  Most modern digital camera's do high res video's, set it up on a tripod and shot your video.  Then make a YouTube account and post the video there, then embed it on the site.  Need any help let me know.

See Yah
Thanks

I knew there was a reason we kept you around Lee.  I entirely forgot that my new camera does video, I may work on this soon.

The RED HERON is not a difficult fly to tie...The trick is to use a wood duck feather or sub that has the longest fibres

reach about one quarter inch past the end of the hook......The nasty feather is the pheasant feather as they are generally

thick stemmed..These can be split with a razor blade before winding on....Sometimes 2 are required to accomplish a full look.

Do NOT allow the feather to twist when winding it around the hook shank..

I was also told "self praise is a poor recommendation."

So Stephen you tie yours with a body ?  I see some patterns call for one and others don't .
