Thanks for a nice day of fishing together. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. We both took a spill and got wet but that's part of the job of fishing. I know I looked foolish when I went down but no harm no fowl. Both River fished with a good amount of fish but not like normal, water levels are very low and we need lots of rain soon. Like t-bone said story to come after he posts his pictures in a album.

I sure did Lee. Thank you.

You use your 2 wt? Those places like you guys were at is where I love my 1 wt. TFO now makes a 1/2 in a 5 footer! The little rods make tunas out of those wild Brookies
Come to think on it I believe my Colton Slipstream is either a 5 1/2 or a 6 footer. I'm out of control over here

You're a bit to the old side to be taking dives off the rocks Buddy. Are you using a wading staff? It amazes me how slippery those damn rocks get. Since I broke my leg slipping off a rock in the Winter I'm paranoid of every freakin rock I see so I'm super anal about where I set my feet these days. Another reason I LOVE beaver ponds, no damn rocks!
Looking forward to the full report guys

The rock was not slippery but it moved on me, wop and I was down and wet. Like I said no harm no fowl. It was later in the day and I do ware down in my old age, much faster then before and I have to be aware of this. As for a wading staff I do have one and I should us it even on the small streams, I think I will try it next time out. I have to find a little time here at work to work on the report, should have something by tomorrow or earlier. It was fun fishing with T-bone, he is a blast to fish with.

Koda,
It was definitely the sort of trip you bring your 6'6" 2wt on! That set up performs very well.
I think I want to run a leader that is 7.5' though instead of 9 when stream fishing. Man did I get some tangles out there! I got so pissed once I just pulled it all tight and clipped off above the knot. The challenges of stream fishing I guess.

You can in fact run a 12 foot leader on that 2 weight, though most often I do run 7 1/2 footers on my 1 and 2 weights. Sounds like YOU are trying to cast the line instead of letting the rod do the work?
I just went through a rough period myself. In the quest to hit the other side of the Pemi because those freakin trout were rising over there I managed to screw my entire casting up. How bad? Well let me say I had to go to my buddy Lefty Kreh to get back in the groove.
While it may sound rudimentary, a few axioms are in order. SLOW down! That was one of my pitfalls. If the rod isn't loaded the line isn't going anywhere. And, ya gotta move the rod tip in a straight line. Well pretty straight, otherwise you'll end up with those miserable wind knots, and worse. Like the fly half way up the fly line with 17 knots in it. WTF!!!
I don't as a rule get into to much trouble in the short game, it's when I try to empty the reel including the backing is where I get AFU. It can drive you mad.
If you lose the feel of the line anywhere in either the back or forward cast you are heading for trouble if you aren't already in it. Which equates to, WE are trying to cast the line instead of the rod.
But in the grand scheme of things, I've been doing it a Hell of a lot longer than you and I'm still stepping on my crank on occasion. It's gonna happen to everyone now and again. The cure is first of all to recognize it, bite the bullet and admit it, and then take it apart and fix it.
Everyone is not a Joan Wulff or a Lefty Kreh, those folks are rare. The rest of us have some good days, and some bad
I have published the story of Theron's and My fishing day on the Home Page. It is the featured story.
ENJOY

Lee and I got together today, and although I would not say we slayed em, we certainly did educate a few.
I used a grifith gnat with badger hackle, Dave's swap fly and an elk hair caddis, all with satisfactory results.
Lee says there will be a story with pics shortly.
Here's a teaser for you all.
