It was indeed a fine day of fishing with some very enjoyable company.

To fill in a few of the gaps:

Upon arrival there was an unspoken decision to divide and conquer, and that we did.  I took up post on the upstream side while Ziggy and T-bone attacked the down river sections.  I started off with a fly I had never fished before, a Sofa Pillow.  The bass seemed to really like it because after a few adjustment casts I was into my first fish of the day, followed by about a half a dozen more palm sized smallmouths.  I decided to switch over to a more tried and true combination, a pale dun dry with a caddis emerger for a dropper.

I spied a fish doing some strange areobatics in the middle of the white water so I pitched the combination to him, and, wham, fish on a nice stockie bow.  This was followed by a couple more of the same, as I moved upstream I spotted another small rise and wham a nice little brown (this time I remembered I have a camera)

The rest of the day was filled with fall fish of varring size, and as Ziggy stated I finished the day with a very nice, well fed, Bow.

Just prior to me landing my last fish of the day I got to see T-bone land a very nice smallmouth, no state record but it did give his 5wt a bit of a workout.

I look forward to our next outing!

Thanks again guys.

Yes indeed as Koda stated very well done gentleman. That sure is some nice looking water you gents were fishing . A wide variety of fish I am guessing from your report.

Well it wasn't a crappy day, but....  Or a tiger trout day for that matter, but there was fun had by all!

When Brandon and I split from Keith we went down river just above where the kayakers put in.  It was beautiful and we were a little later than I wanted to be, but that was partially my fault as I wanted to pick up some water bottles and stuff before hitting the water.

First thing I pulled in a brown trout htat was probably 12 inches.  Once again a phenomenal fish.  The fish up there are so damn beautiful!  There colors are just so brilliant.  Shortly after I hooked myself a lunker of a fall fish, that I would have sworn was a rainbow as it had a redish color to it.

At this time I believe Brandon was still trying to figure out how he got to the river bank in the first place, as he had had a long night the night before and little sleep.  But while doing so I believe he managed to catch himself a few bass.

After I stopped getting interest on my dry flies and the top water became still Brandon and I moved up into the rapids.  I managed to do very little and my nymphing produced nothing, as I watched Brandon pull in a beauty bow.  He then told me to try as bugger and tandema a small black nymph.  So reluctant to be a follower I tied on a bugger but in tandem to a wood duck heron and threw it out into the tail water off the rapids.  With zero results While watching Brandon land his second beauty of a bow, I gave in and re tied as he suggested.

as I tied up my nymph I let the bugger sink to the bottom between my feet.  When I pulled it up off the bottom a small mouth shot from behind me between my legs and nailed the bugger.  So I guess I hand lined him....  That was interesting!

So after brandon had moved further up I headed for shore and shocked I see this beautiful bow run aground in between some rocks, so I approach it and it may have been laying in a1/4" of water if that, but it was breathing, and it had been sunburned on its head and back.  But since it was breathing I figured I'd try and save it.  When I grabbed it it still had plenty of fight in it, so I brought it to deeper water and watched it take off like a bat out of hell for deeper water.

I figured it was one of the trout Brandon caught that became disoriented and grouded itself but I really have no idea.  I was honestly shocked that it had been there long enough to get a burn on it and was still so lively.  That Pemi water must be magical!

So the fishing got slower and the gang decided to move further down river, and I figured I'd save us the walk out and got the car to move it further down from where we started, while Brandon walked my rod.

When I attempted to catch up with them I stumbled upon a little pool where a fork in the river spilled back into the main portion of the river.  In that pool I saw a fish.  Which later we determined to be a salmon, but it was injured and most likely going to die.  It appeared to have had its face half bitten off.  So I figured I'd net him and do right by him, by finishing him off, and sending him adrift.  But he had other ideas.  With his one good eye he managed to evade me far better than I expected and as I tried to net him out of the mud I was stirring up, I slipped and fell forward on my net shattering the frame.  So then I had four pieces of wood held together by a bit of black netting, that resembled something like a wind chime.

Brandon was laughing his ass off and cursing himself for not taking video.

We fished a bit more and I was happy I did because that last small mouth put up a great fight, as it inhaled one of Brandon's famous wooly buggers.

Thanks for joining me fellas!  It was a great time, and I look foward to doing it again!!!

Curious, were you guys running sinking lines at any time on the Pemi trip?

Laughing Out Loud Theron you have to post a picture of the net funny stuff. Sounds like a great time even though you had a bad experience with a possessed Salmon

I'm amazed that the Eagles or the Ospreys didn't grab that Salmon, unless like Dave said, it was possessed Mr. Green Too, I've seen beavers in that river that at first I thought were bears that's how big they are in there. One heck of a river !
