Hello, I have been Fly Fishing for almost 25 of my 45 years. I mostly enjoy stream and river fishing for trout and salmon; but I am known to do some pond fishing as well (especially at my camp in ME) and I have recently gotten more in to kayak fishing and Stripers. I am also looking to get a Spey rod and get in to that as well.

I live in Temple NH and have lived in Southern NH my entire life; except when on Active duty in the Army after High School and when I have been deployed as a member of the NH Army National Guard. I also have a camp in Moscow Maine on a 100 acre trout pond and I am not far from the Kennebec and Dead Rivers.

I am not only an avid Fly Fisherman that doesn’t get to fish near enough but I tie a little as well. I am also an avid hunter; Rifle, muzzleloader, bow, upland game, ducks, deer, and turkeys. Also, into road and mountain bikes, cross country and telemark skiing, and motorcycles. I am an RN at the Dept of Veterans Affairs and the 1SG of B Btry 3/197th FA NHARNG.

I have a beautiful wife who is just getting in to fly fishing herself, two adult children, and a yellow Lab.

Welcome,

Sounds like we have run parralel paths; I believe you are also a MASH alum (class of '82 here), I have been with VISN 1 for almost 25yrs most of it at Manchester (now a VISN virtual), I raced MTB in EFTA, NORBA, and Red Jacket for about 5 years, and I came to this message board via the other site looking for a more receptive/friendly bunch of folks.

You will find at least one other former Milfordite here and you will not find a better bunch of folks to chat with and occasionally go fishing with.   Shoot me a PM some time and we can find a time and place to get together and fish and reminisce.

Take care and tight lines,

-Keith

NHRedleg

Welcome aboard and I hope you like the site.  I will open the entire forum to you and please post often.  Ask questions and please explore the entire site, it has a lot to offer.  Caddisfly4 is also an avid spay rod fisherman, check out his photo album to see some of the fish he has caught with his spay rod.  Make use of the HELP area (Menu Upper right), lots of info there and it may answer any question you have about the site.  IT is not complete but close to it.

ENJOY and welcome aboard.

See Yah
Thanks
Lee

Welcome NHredleg!  I lived in Temple on Fish Road at the base of Kidder Mountain for a few years. Nice country out that way. We got a few hunters on here and even have a couple of catagories to blab about hunting related stuff. You'll like it here, a real good bunch of guys.

Another welcome to the site NHRedLeg. Thank you for your service. You will find a few vets here . We appreciate your sacrifice Your camp is close to my neck of the woods . Well used to be my neck of the woods. You must be familiar with the Bingham area. Moxie and Wyman.  The Old Kennebec has come a long way sense the logging days. Good to hear of folks from my old area. As I just told Mlowe pictures , stories and your contribution is welcome here please jump right in.  Dave V

Always nice to meet another that shares interests.  I love mountain biking as well as my fishing, and grew up in the champlain valley in Vermont with a rifle in my hand.

Its great to have you aboard.  I think everyone here has about said allthere is to say.  Hope you enjoy yourself here.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Sorry so long with a reply; personal computer was stolen last week so have to find time at work to do a quick reply…Keith don’t rat me out.

Yes I am from Milford; well Temple and Milford as my Dad stayed in Temple when my parents divorced and my Mom and Step-dad settled in Milford when I was 11. Graduated from MASH class of ’85. I even married an Amherst girl, though not one with $.  I have pretty much always lived in the area. I bought in Temple in 2000 on Brown Rd (used to be Old Brown) which is off of Fish Rd. I pretty much do most of my deer hunting behind my Dad’s on the other side of town and up on Temple Mnt but do sometimes go behind my house up on Kidder Mnt as well.

I have been with the VA in Manchester for 5 years now and love it. Prior to that I worked 14 years in an ER in Nashua and have been a nurse for 22 years now.

Served two years active duty out of high school, then reserves, and then went to the guard in ‘95. No breaks in service; 27 years and still counting.

I haven’t raced bikes yet, thinking about entering a mtb or cyclocross this year though. I just love to ride and wish I had more time for it. Used to race cross-country skiing though.

Dave V. Very familiar with the Bingham area. I love fishing the Kennebec and the Dead. My avatar pic is the view from the porch of the camp; Chase Pond and Cow Mnt you are looking at and to the right out of the pic is Moxie Mnt. Don’t know if you are in touch with anyone in that area anymore and how long it has been since you left. Things have changed a lot in the 27 years we have had our camp. Plum Creek owns all the timber lands and have cut the heck out of it. Downtown Bingham is about half boarded up. Hard winters and loss of yarding areas have devastated the deer herd; though last was an easier one so hoping things state to rebound a bit. The Air Force closed the radar site in 2002 and it was sold last winter for $730,000 (1400-ish acres and the buildings and such). They had taken down the transmitting antenna though before it was sold. Looks like some group of companies want to build an “Energy Park” there. What will entail I don’t know for sure but definitely looks like there will be a wind farm of some sort either there or along the ridge overlooking the river.  Despite all that I still love it up there and can’t get up there enough.

Again, that’s all for the welcome.
