So my friend Mark and I headed out to fish Willard pond on Sunday morning. Having secured the required kitchen passes and Mark being an early riser we decided to get there while the fish were still sleeping. Fortunately we were treated to a spectacular sunrise.

I was hoping for a day of firsts, since I had never fished Willard pond and I had never caught a Tiger Trout. We after putting the float tubes in the first item was checked off the list. Now to stalk those Tigers. Mark was the first to hook up, a fingerling small mouth bass; the first of many. A short time later while fishing the outflow I hooked into a very nice 18” rainbow, but alas still no Tiger Trout.

As we came into a small cove we saw fish rising all around us, they were aggressive enough hitting our small streamers but always short. In due time we figured out their pattern and I landed my first Tiger.

This was followed by countless others, most in the 8-10” range but a few in the 12”+ range. Let me tell you not only are these fish spectacular (no two are alike) but ounce for ounce they fight harder than any other trout I have ever caught.

Awesome I have always wanted to catch a tiger . We have them here but they are rare . I will have to add this to my bucket list. Maybe when I head back east next year you could hook me up Ktbone.

cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Well aren't those fish sweet. I think I have caught them in Lucas Pond a long time ago. They are different and fight like browns, who is one of the parents, not sure witch. Love the report, very nice job Keith.

The Tiger Trout is I believe the result of a rather amourous Brown Trout male and a very permiscuous Brook Trout female. Like you said they are rare but when you get into them on Willard they tend to be plentiful.
