Hi Tbone
turkry hunting sounds like a great sport...Unfortunately tjhere are no turkeys here..
Unless you add my relatives to the mix...But maybe we had better leave them out of the mix.
My question is about the rifle....Why do some people fall in to a barrel of sh** and always come out
smelling like a rose.? (No insult intended)
No idea!? I hope I don't jinx it but I have made all kinds of great friends since rediscovering the outdoors, and have recieved many great gifts.
I have recieved many tying materials, tools, fishing equipment and knowledge at little to no cost. I am truly fortunate in that regard. But honestly, I think I am the type of person that would give something away too. Maybe not as quickly as the lady that gave me the rifle, but I could see myself giving some one flies and or a fly box or some old stuff I don't use anymore to help them further cultivate their own love of the outdoors and all the beautiful wonders it harbors.
Maybe that has something to do with it. Ya think?
That's awesome T-Bone . Can't beat a free rifle. You sure do have the luck when it comes to gifts.. Pretty dang cool in my book. Turkey hunting is big here in SD not quite as big as big as the Ring Neck Pheasant but very big just the same. Do you bow hunt for them to ?
Dave, You have to meet T Bone up close an personal. He's got them puppy dog eyes, a real charmer he is

Yah Lee, the lad threw me a curve in Dave's beat down thread when he said he was a border line killer in the past. Pshaw, phituey, why he's just a warm glass of milk.
Imagine, charming an old lady out of a nice vintage smokepole. Sounds to me like he's a killer alrighty, a LADY killer
Hey, I ain't sayin nothin. I get gifts from bears, T Bone gets em from humans. We gotta be doin it right
Well thanks for the compliments folks! I am just what I am, and I like to think that is a nice guy.
I have helped that old lady bring in some big packages from her car in a thunder shower a while back too. Probably a contributing factor I'm thinking. But none the less I am grateful for whatever it is that keeps people being so generous to me.
BTW I haven't heard from you about that reel I want to purchase Koda. Is it still expected this month? I have to make a drive up and get it. I will be making a fishing trip out of it too. Some beautiful country back there. But maybe I ought to ask the resident Bear charmer to assist me as I have only seen one bear in my life and I killed it as fast as I could.

I refused the order for the reels this trip as the quality wasn't up to my standards. We'll see what the next batch looks like. Sorry for the delay Buddy.
You'll be safe with Koda in tow. Course if there's bears about I won't get to fish on account of they'll want to play bear farf
I went turkey hunting this morning. With just a few hours of sleep I got up with Amdyn at about 4:45am, and when he was good and settled I strapped on my vest and headed up the street.
There is some farm land and timber just up the road from here that isn't posted so I thought, what the hell I'll give it a go.
When I got there I saw two beautiful Canadian geese and this years hatch running around the edge of the pond.
No gobbles in response to locator calls, so I headed to the power line and began yelping with a diaphragm call and I noticed a couple hunters coming off the hill. They said they had heard some gobbling down below the power lines but had not managed to hear anything that was close to them.
I snuck down skirting the wood line purring and yelping, with no response, but I wasn't really surprised as I was really a bit late for gobble time. But I explored a bit and stumbled on a small plowed meadow with about 15 turkeys in it. They saw me and meandered out of the field and off into the woods pretty casually.
So not a bad morning, and when I returned to the house I was bringing in my shot gun and a lady from the next building over told me stay right here and ran off into her building and returned with a rifle, which she gave to me because apparently her husband was never going to use it and she was sick of looking at it!
Maybe I should hunt more often!? LOL!
