Ok where do I begin ? Should I start out and say this was one of my best fishing days that I can remember ? Should I start out and tell you I did the Rapid Creek Slam ? That is a Brook Trout a Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout all on the same creek . Something I have only done once before back in 1993.  Should I tell you on my very first cast with a bamboo rod I caught a 10 inch Brown. My second cast a very large Brown caught me by complete surprise and broke me off.  Should I tell you the weather was perfect ? Overcast temps around 60. A BWO hatch and the fish were rising all over . The water looked like popcorn . I tied on a dry fly (BWO )   All I can say is my arm is worn out . Oh you know when Joel said there is nothing like a bamboo. He wasn't kidding. The strike hits the fly and you feel it right to the butt of the reel. Took about 10 cast and I was casting the line with ease. I just let the rod do all the work and it cast like a hot knife going through butter. The silk line at first was stiff but as the day went on it got better and better. The thin diameter of the line made casting into the wind a breeze Smile   I was surprised on the accuracy I had with the rod. I am very happy . A great day . Oh I have pictures not with my camera the battery is dead would take a charge . So they are on my cheep cell phone . I need a cable to transfer them. Only about five pictures . Enough for you guy's you the picture. Oh by the way the Brookie was 16 inches. A complete surprise

I sent the pictures to my wifes phone now I can download them when she gets home I think. I hope. If not I have to by a cable for my phone which I don't want to do because my phone is on its last leg. I think hers she can put it on a card then to my computer.

Dave

Some of those phones aren't so smart. I run one of those Trac jobbers because me and Verizon don't see eye to eye on those contracts. Getting a picture to one of those Trac phones from a computer borders on pain. I have to upload it to my server, then down load it from a URL to get it in the phone.  If there is a way to get them from the phone cam to the computer I haven't figured it out yet. The Primos game cam is duck soup. Just pull the chip, stick it in the USB gizmo and away we go Big Grin

I am sure Sebastian was joking around .  He did put the smiley face and grin on there. Those of you who know me know I don't claim to catch fish if I didn't .  I will be the first to admit when I get skunked.  The fishing is at it's peak here in the hills of SD.  Don't take much to fool them right now. The water temps are perfect and the hatches are heavy at times.  The best fishing is when it is overcast. When the sun is out the fish can see you 20 feet away. When there is a slight drizzle and overcast your chance's increase dramatically  The brook trout that I caught was in a part of the stream I have only only one before that was back in 93. Even then the fish was only 4 to 6 inches . This fish all but filled my 20 inch net opening.  She was a big fish for that part of the stream. The Bow was the first one I have caught in that area in some time.  I did catch a couple more nice and fat beauties.  I seriously was getting worried the bows were gone from that area. The browns are doing well in fact I think the whole stretch of water is doing well. After years of drought and low water plus warm water fishing pressure was paying it's toll on a once thriving echo system. Last year we received a well above average snow fall and a very wet spring/summer. The grass and hills were green way into Aug. Something I have never seen sense living here. So I think with that water supply the fish especially the browns have made an awesome recovery. Now this year could change all that once again. No snow pack and until last week no rain. With two days of a steady drizzle and a weird hail storm the water levels came up and the fish responded.  I am hoping more rain comes to our area or it will be short fishing season for me. I do not fish for them when the water levels drop and warm up . This is respect to the fish and I believe the only way to protect them from over stress resulting in to many fatalities.  It's how Dave V rolls .

PS Koda you ain't kidding about finding a way to down load pictures from my phone. The I-Phones they make now no problem. But my old beast forget about it
