took a newbie out today , to hit some spots fish were everywhere and i mangaged a couple nice bows at one spot , wade was not so lucky, he did learn alot i think , he was highsticking it like a pro but just couldn't fool any fish, he hooked up momentarlly on couple but quickly lost them . we headed back to my place for a quick break and went down to the river fish again everywhere i had many strikes and misses on a dry and then i casted out and watched as my fly driften towards a working fish bam he hits i set the hook and snap my freaken 3wt snaped in half like a tooth pic i think the fish was at least 10 lbs ? LMAO not really just a decent stockie and to make matter worse i pulled it in  by hand only to have it pop off at last second . oh well they do have a good warranty system i will just have to rebuild the section that broke , but i am definatley gonna talk to them about the blanks i really never stressed it that i could tell i did get those big crappies and couple bigger trout but nothing huge , i am wondering if some how i did not build it correctly? it was pretty straight forward? put a couple pics up later just got rainbow pics Smile all in all i had good time its only a rod and at this point, story of my life Smile i always have my trusty 5wt until i get the new section .

Dang it Zig that sucks .   I did the same with my 4wt twice. Thanks to a life time warranty I only had to pay for shipping  Thumbup

I am sure they will back up the rod.  Damn 10 pounders.Mr. Green

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Yuh...Make fun of me and Mike's longer and stiffer rods would you.Big Grin

But that rod break does happen when the operator sets the hook way to hard

and the fish is travelling in the opposite direction.,,,seen it done.

yep this is probably the case, stephen,  i did give it a good yank oh well live and learn . looks like i will be looking at rebuilding this rod and keeping it on the smaller waters, should have just brought my 5wt . i will go for the 4wt next i think in about 8-9 Feet for nymphing and little more backbone for the bigger fish still love the light weight set up and will continue to use them .

Hi ziggy

Sorry if I seemed a mite harsh in my previous statement...i do offer my extreme sympathies

as I know that there is a lot of effort and time put into building a rod......i also agree with all that using a

light rod is a barrel of fun on suitable waters.

Fix that one or build another light rod and go right back at er.
