Wow Lee!!!! I could say the one I'm using at the time I'm fishing, more so if there is a fish on the end of it. I have a favorite for the task at hand I guess. When trout fishing my Sage LL's win out hands down, never understand why they stopped making it. For steel and atlantics I would say my CND 2-hander. For stripers and blues T&T Vector does the job. Yah what ever rod I'm using at the time.

Good answer Bill.

Hmm good question Lee. I would have to say my first fly rod would be my favorite. Its my LL-Bean Guide Series . A 6 -7 wt . I used it for Bass and for Landlocked Salmon while stationed at Loring AFB Maine. I still have the beat up old rod . I sense retired it but often think about breaking it out to use one of these days. My new Favorite rod is now my 4wt Gatti. I love my wife's Sage LL 5wt I have to agree with Caddis a very nice rod and cast so smooth. Maybe one of these days I will purchase a Scott i hear they are very nice rods But for now its me and my Gattti but with fond memories of my LL-Bean
Dave I never heard of a Gatti before so I looked it up on the net. How the heck did you find that one? Did you get to cast it before you bought it? As for the LL's I have the 6 & 4 both 9 footers and I wouldn't part with them for the life of me.
Hey Caddis I got my Gatti from a local dealer Al Campbell . He introduced me to the rod while fishing on Spring Creek . I got to cast his . I fell in love with the feel and the control I had with the rod. So I bought one from him. You are right about the Sage LL series I don't know why they don't produce those rods anymore.. It was a very good line. My wife loves hers.
I fish with a $65 Sci. Angler rod I bought off Ebay eventually I'll replace it but for now it seems to work for me and I tend to land the odd fish on it !!
I wouldn't give up my Hardy St John reel for any thing though.
I don't have too much experience in fly fishing and I didn't try too many flyrods. Currently my favorite one is a custom rod made on a Dan Craft blank, #4 10 ft 4 pc. It's very versatile, I can handle a 5 wt line with it for streamers, but it's also very light and works perfect with nymphs. It's a very fast rod, and its rigidity allows me to control the nymphs very closely and set the hook fast. And over the past 2 weeks I played with it with dries and I can't complain. I don't like carrying multiple rods around with me and this can do the job no matter what I throw at it.
Nothing lighter than an 8wt for me
Mike don't go fishing with Lee the fish he loves to catch, and I must admit are beauties to look at, are the size of the flies you are throwing with an 8 weight.
Hi All
Just a little topic to get some chatter going on the site. What is your most favorite Fly Rod?????
My most favorite Fly Rod I don't have anymore, someone stool it out of my car about 7 or 8 years ago. It was a Timberline rod kit sold by Bill Franke from North Conway NH. It was a four piece rod, 6 feet long and for a 5 wt line. I bought the kit and never made the rod and then decided to have Bill make it for me. He did a wonderful job on the rod with a slip ring for the reel seat and the finish was great. That little rod felt like nothing in your hand and could easily cast 50+ feet with no sweet. It was the most perfect rod for small streams and wild brook trout. But it is gone and will never be able to replace it. So Bill made another rod for me last year that is two piece 6.5 feet long and for a 4 wt line. It too is fiber glass not graphite. This rod is a lot more soft then the other but still a nice rod for the small streams. Caddis saw it in action last year and will again this year I hope.
So guys what is your favorite Fly Rod and why????
