MAINE - Life in the Slow Lane
Well had the wife pick me up some fishing stuff last night , and i am armed with some new tackle to go after the rainbows tomorrow , i will have revenge on this trip no fish will be safe LOL . will report later on tomorrow .. hoping my kids will eet up with me 
life as a teenager seems busier now then i was one? perhaps i just didn't notice how often i was too busy for my parents LOL ....
Just recived a Text they will be comming up i am pretty happy they found some time for Dad, will be like old times i am sure i will drill all the holes bait all the tip-ups and watch as they get all the flags ..... Wouldn't want it any other way .... 
Well met up with the kids about 8:30 am and we headed for bait then off to the pond , edges def not good had to walk threw about 10" of water for 8-10 feet to get on the stable 10" of ice . Once on the Ice i drilled about 8 holes and zachary followed behind me setting up tip-ups i finished drilling and was headed over to help finish when he got a flag on a tip-up he had just set... no fish stolen bait . he rebaited it and not a in later flag pops up this time he was hooked up and pulled and nice rainbow onto the ice we took some pics and returned the fish to its house.... hung around for a while another flag this time ashleys turn no fish bait gone? oh well . we hung out chatted and talked to another fisherman that had shown up just as we finished setting up. not many flags for an hour or so . I decided to grab my jig rod and try it out droped down to the bottom and started jigging , nothing i decided to lowere it down again to the bottom this time before i could even start to wind it up a bit i was on another nice rainbow . Zachary had to work tyhis afternoon so was gonna be a short trip done at 1 pm about 12:45 flag pops and ashleys turn i go over to see line peeling off the spool figured if it was a trout it must have been a good one , but to all of our surprise it was actually a big sucker a 1st for me on the ice was cool to see after some photo's and ashley looking at its mouth for a while we released it unharmed we all ended the day with a fish was a cool few hours spent with the not so kids anymore had a blast and look forward to doing it again real soon enjoy the pics.......
Hes saying see you tomorrow when you come back for my buddies the rainbow trout Thats what i heard anywho LOL!!!!
Today was a great day for me , i got to take my neighbors son Tyler who had never been Ice Fishing before. I was excited to take him and show him something new, was hoping the fish would also show themselfs. we got to the pond and set up by 2 i explained the ins and outs with the tip-ups and we got them all in the water , and i had another couple holes to try jigging got him set up jigging and a matter of mins later the flag popped we went over to see it spinning so i help him get a good set on the fish and before you know it he had his 1st Ice fish ever nice 12" rainbow couldn't wipe the smile off his face what a great feeling i think i was happier then him LOL we fished a couple more hours and he missed one on the jig set up but still stayed at it until the end . i managed to hook up jigging and got a 13" rainbow and a very small perch had a blast showing the next generation what the Ice is all about ... until next trip enjoy the pics......

Reel em in Bro! Nicely done 
Went out for the morning withthe wife and got home just in time to hit the pond again for a few hours . headed down got set up 5 tip-ups and my jig stick, fished for about 30 min got good hit, fish on biggest yet from this pond i have caught, not huge, but nice 16" rainbow had the place to myself.... next couple days off, to get out in the woods and finish up the flies for the swap.....

Today i did make it on the Ice with a friend and his daughter we tried for a while with no luck one flag one lost bait.... and lots of strong gusty winds made it uncomfrotable, we stayed out 3.5 hours saw many others and got to shoot the bull with a couple of fine NewEnglanders .... Great day perhaps Tomorrow will be diffrent if i just don't go looking for sheds before the big game "GO PATS"
Sunday and Monday tried diffrent place and the pond sunday and monday not a fish to be had ohe well its fishing and mid winter hopefully get better have plans to meet up with another from diffrent board to try to fool some fish think we are just going for bass pick and perch gonna pre fish a lake for a derby i have in couple of weeks.
see how it goes until thien be getting ready for the rod build got to do some research ...
Today i met up with donny 1st time , we headed out for a days worth of ice fishing , to prefish a derby he plans on fishing tomorrow, we hit the ice about 8 ish and went over to the swisscheese area lol looked like 100 or so holes drilled we set up of a point and had little luck few flags up to five and hour but mostly small perch after couplle of hours i decided to see if donny wanted to drill some holes towards another point with cove in the middle found 15 Fow hump and set up biggest shinner wasn't long i had a flag and it was running turned out to be small but nice Large mouth bass , 1st for 2012 for me so i was happy we fished for another hour donny got a flag , then another and then another same flag LOL ... he finnally get another goes over and takes care of business with a repectable smallie he was happy he had mentioned wanting to catch one ... lunch time i cooked up some tender Venison steaks and we had some grub about 15 min i get a flag and go over to see it spinning i grabed line and started pulling it back (circle hooks ) and she was on i fought her a little at the hole but she quickly realized i ment business and i hoisted her onto the ice , nice Smallie 18" on the nose maybe 3 lbs or so i was thrilled 2 bass one of each and some perch , donny mangaed a crappie and the we decide to pack up and move over to antoher area it was slow but we mangaged to pick up some fat perch and we spoke with a camp owner what a great day we picked up at 5 dark 30 and headed home lots of walking lots of flags and some nice pics Enjoy ...

Well decided i would hit the pond again to try to fool some trout well let me say i got to lay eyes on a couple of the beautiful fish but never did land one Had my ass handed to me today , had many flags and even had one take the bait as i was winding it back from a pick up and drop saw him swim by and grab it just before it got to the hole oh well its fishing not catching i will get em next time was a great 4 hours on the ice met a couple of other chatty fisherman they had good luck 5 trout a bass and a pickerel .... they were there from sun up to sundown ..... maybe hit it again in the next couple of days but got shed hunting on my mind for the next few days with the amount of snow we have and the rain tonight if there are any droped i should be able to locate them pretty easy
