Every Time I try I usually vacuum right after.  It helps avoid any hostility.

I just sent the wife off to the store and on that list is razor blades.  I have many many flies I have tied that failed in a Ziploc container too that I might attack with the razor to utilize the hooks.

I think I was beginning to get it when I last gave up.  I mean I had a few that didn't look too bad, but I am a perfectionist and get frustrated trying to make things perfect.  And honestly I believe it was my trimming that was really making them sub par more so than the spinning part.  But in the next week or so I intend to reacquaint myself with the frustration.  LOL!

Thanks for the advice and the confidence guys.  I'll see if I can't make some portrait worthy for some more experienced eyes to look over.

Cool I can't wait to see how they turn out . I put my hooks on order and bought some thread to. I am looking fwd to giving spinning hair a shot. Yes it looks intimating but life is to short to worry about the little things.  I will take you guy's advice and keep my tying area clean. I don't want another beating from the wife .  Mike Stephen told me how much fly tying stuff he has in drawers thought out the house and how he takes over the kitchen table every year for tying. You both must have very understanding wives , Wow two hides every year . That's a crap load of bugs. When I hear stories coming from Stephen and you on how many bugs you guys tie Stephen used to tie its mind boggling.

I shouldn't say take over the table he has spot he makes on the table. I do that sometimes myself.  Wife just reminds me to clean up after I am done.   I am still amazed at how many flies you both have tied. Mind boggling. I am impressed

Curious, what do you attribute the down turn in fly sales to? Less fishermen, or foreign invasion?

Thanks!

I believe its a combo of more folks tying thier own flies (thats a good thing) and offshore flies...our market up here is pretty well flooded with flies from Africa and Asia....you can buy a dozen salmon wets online for $1.99 how can anyone compete with that??
