IMHO, the real wood duck reigns supreme. If I couldn't murder enough to do the flies I'd be forced to use dyed mallard. No way would I have the confidence in them, just ain't the same.

Darrell is a good man, and so is Flyspoke.  In this life, you have to come to grips with the fact you will not be loved by everyone.  As you grow older you will develop a 6th sense about who is real and true and who is not.  Even in our close knit family here, we have those who think we have something to offer, and the others who are sitting in the rears asking who the f&^% are these new peckerheads.

I'm cool with all of it. No man can be all things to all people, nor, IMO, should he even try to be.  Some folks click, some don't. That's life my friend.

I parted company with Clark's forum for pretty much the same reasons you speak of. I don't own $10,000 rod and reels, nor would I want to even if I was swimming bareassed in money. I'd rather put money in a bow or a gun or a wheeler. Over there, if you didn't piss with the big dogs you didn't count.  Fine with me.  I really don't need to count in those circles. Those are NOT my kind of people.

You, me, Ziggy, Kype, we migrated here because, the dark forum was NOT our kind of folks. I'm good with the decision as I'm sure you guys are. Nuff said Big Grin

O.K. not to hijack the thread or jump on the bandwagon but I have to chime in on the folks on "that other site".

I came here at the recomendation of Ziggy and T_bone because my request for help was being grossly ignored (180 reads 0 replies)

So after moving here I posted up a reply to Ziggy thanking him for the contact and noting it was about a 1% reply rate.   Then in answer to my request for assistance "waltryan" replies with a link to the NH learn to fish calendar....Really!

All I've got to say is thanks to everyone here for not being asshats....

Koda,

Glad the new guy could help out.Thumbup

I tied up a bunch tonight myself and they don't look half bad.   I tried adding a bit of weight to them as well to get them down in faster current, as long as you use thin lead wire it seems to work pretty well.

All I can say is I am super happy you guy's came over to Lee's site. I enjoy all of you very much. You guy's rock. Thumbup

Master Yoda....  I mean Koda.....

Of course I understand what you are saying.  Lets not forget I was a correctional officer for years, so I'm well aware of what it is to be not liked by people.  I just find it odd that in that bunch of about 30 people that showed up regularly very few gave me the time of day. There were a few one in particular that I think were awesome.  The one whom I really remember was named Ron, and I have not been too good with names in the past few years so it says something that I remembered his name.

Yes, as you were getting at most of these fellas had money out the wazoo as they talked about $25000 fishing vacations in there demonstrations, and rods and reels I could only ever dream of affording.  But I took away some knowledge about fly tying and some raffle prizes and even some local fishing holes that were allegedly worth while.

I felt as though I somehow let Darrell down though.  As if he let me into his circle of friends and I somehow insulted them.  Maybe this isn't the case but I really wanted to do all I could to impress the man that was so kind to me.  And yet I never caught any fish at the locations he told to hit when he told me to, I didn't hit it off with his crowd, and I just feel like I owe him something more, and yet I have no idea how to repay this sense of debt.

I mean how often do you get a random email from someone you've never heard of that says, hey you don't know me but I have been reading your threads and I think I like you so I'm going to help you and give you some tying materials and odds and ends.  I'm not kidding the haul he gave me included a rod a 5wt line, books, a small Orvis pack, at least a dozen roles of tippet and leader material, and at least $200 (a low ball estimation) worth of tying materials.  That doesn't happen every day!  And he has asked nothing of me in return.  I certainly hope to have the oppurtunity to fish with him, buy him lunch someday or something.

And as for Dave's last comment.  I appreciate being wanted.  It is nice to feel as though I am more than just someperson that everyone could live with out.  Even if that isn't the case.

This little clubhouse is sort of more like family.  Good company too.

Thanks.

You really need to hook up with Darrell and clean the air.  He's one of the most down to earth guys I ever ran across. Matter of fact, he's sending me up some Herons because he knows I suck at tying them. I'm much better now with Keiths tips, but they still ain't like Darrells.

Hmmmm Lee, why don't we have Darrell over here?

I had invited him, but quite frankly he cares little for taking pictures and writing.  in fact he is a memeber of the dark side and the only times I've ever seen him post a thread was when he announced Nick Lambrou's death and a little while ago to tell the A Holes to stop badgering fish and game.

He never ever posted to me either I just got a random pm and email address from him and one thing lead to another.

Koda you are correct.  I should have a talk with him.  I proably wouldn't even need to ask if I got a chance to talk with him I think I could quickly come to a conclusion about whether or not things were good or bad.
