 Hi All

You will have to insist that Dave V. posts a photo of himself doing the rain dance...

But it will have to be posted on a day that Lee does not have access to a computer.   Big Grin.

Thank you Sir Lee. You are a gentleman and a scholar.  If Dave can fill the Salmon River with water he has my vote for the next President of the United States, and everyone else who fishes the SR Smile

As long as Dave keeps his little rain dance productive to the west of here I think we'll all be happy.  From western NY to the Dakotas they can have all the rain they want.  At the moment I'm terrified of what spring will look like here.  It is already so wet, and if it freezes like this and we get hammered with snow, in the spring we'll be reliving the Irene catastrophe.

I really don't think that will happen.  What causes more problems in the spring is a fast melt and rain, so what we have now will not really effect that.

Look my favorite river got clobbered and I am hopeful that it will recover by next year.

Just my two cents.

See Yah
Thanks

Just heard from the man! It rained and the fish are moving in. I'll bet a dollars worth of jelly donuts he scores this time Mr. Green

Just heard from my man on the scene:

"I broke the ice Saturday morning and managed to score 2 Kings.  I released one that was hooked in the side of the mouth so it was maybe legit hook up.  The other one I broke off intentionally when I got a good look at it.  These fish and all the fish the guys were roping up all along the run and in town were far from dime bright fresh fish.  I did see one very silver huge king a guy got on the run early in the day and that was the only one I would have considered keeping.  Not a Coho to be found.  There were fish in the river but not to the point of a massive amount of fish by any means.  I had nothing till after 9:00 am and it was rainy and windy as heck.  It started the leave hatch and every twenty or so casts I was removing leaves from the hook.  I had a nice pod of about a dozen fish in front of me for about an hour around 9:30 but try as I did they just were not interested in anything I offered.  I could have snagged them easy but that is just not in me.   Guys were hooking up and rods were bent here and there but few fish were being landed.  Makes one realize that all those hook ups and break offs were no doubt on foul hooked fish.  I’m 99 % certain that this was my last trip of the salmon season.  Really, for table fare the Coho are the only game in town.   It is October and the run peaks in another week according to the schedule.   Next year I will concentrate on trying to get into fresh Coho again but this was not a good season so far.  They still need water up there."

Maybe they ought to pump some out of Vermont.  I passed through route 4 across the central portion this weekend, there are houses that are sitting in flood plains with out foundations anywhere in sight.  Steel bridges mangled and laying 50 yards from where they once aided traffic across, campers where their used to be houses, and old cars  strewn about along the river everywhere.  Killington looks like the mountains were ditched by the hand of god.  Massive sandy cliffs with trees dangling at the peaks everywhere.

I certainly see what they have done with excavators as problematic, but the thing that gets me is the signs in front of businesses that were demolished saying, "See you next year!"  Are they really that stupid to build there again!?  For an intelligent species species we aren't always that smart.

Well I got to run.  It's the wife's birthday, and I have some errands to run.

Take care.  Talk to you all soon enough.

Theron, I'm with you about shipping some water down to the Salmon River. AFTER and SINCE Irene we've got over another foot of rain and it's raining AGAIN!  The ground is saturated and it just rolls off down hill.

Yepper, they'll build right there again. For some reason we don't learn. Take a look at Washington. I rest my case Smile

Happy Birthday to the Lady of the house!  What lovely item of fly fishing gear did you get her?  Mr. Green
