In addition my load of wood has not been delivered yet and I am
down to about enough for another two days.
Planning the first fishing trip...Heck...I'm still in survival mode.

I have a little wood you could barrow, but you have to come and get it in Acton, ME. This offer is only for Stephen not everyone on the board.

Oh boy, thanks Lee, I'm running low on wood too. I can't be more than three hours away. Actually my wood sheds are empty but we had to shovel off the top od the wood that I has stored outside to get some from that pile. Fun job, my daughter helps me, she is a darned good worker and enjoys doing it too. As for my first outing well if the ice is gone in the Miramichi by oh say 19 April, which is the first Saturday after the season opens then I might take a run up and try for some blacks. Although I'm not holding my breath on doing any spring fishing until after 01 May. Still 2-3 feet of snow on my lawn and more on the way. As the local news anchor said on tonights news "Spring is coming soon, right after three more snow storms".

I have already been out, Jan. 10th to the Newfound and got skunked. Water was at 300cfs to much for me. Then back to the Newfound on Feb. 4th the water was at 150cfs and landed only the one fish a 15" rainbow.
Bill according to my in Quarreyville The ice ain't going to be out anytime soon!!

Mike, no I'm not expecting to have the ice go out by 15 April but it has to go some time, usually by no later than say 25 April. But heck in the old days when they used to get alot more snow than now and it was alot colder, so I have been told, when did the ice go then? It seems to me that Jerry Doak said on his report one time that usually the ice was gone by 15 April, 8 out of 10 years since the 90's. However in my mind I would think that the ice leaving the river would be dependant upon the ice pulling back from the shore line and lots of water entering the river. Well once it warms up a little I don't think that water is going to be a problem. I think that I'm pretty safe to say that I'll be fishing on the Miramichi sometime before 30 April. I've got a little 12 Ft boat here with a 9.9 HP that I'll sleigh ride down over the bank if the boat launches aren't clear. You just can't make plans ahead of time thats what screws things up. OK I gotta go and load up sinking line on my 10 wt Okuma Integrity. And yes Dave a 10 wt rod does cast nice into a head wind.

A 10 Wt Holly Crap, Might as well be casting a telephone pole
Them have to be some big fish.
Bill Over the next couple of weeks as it warms up in the daytime the ice should show some signs of breaking, except for the Nor'Easter we are supposed to get Monday
.....Dave we don't fish for minnows up here you know...

Some people have all the nerve.... Planning their first fishing
trip already this early...I am still up to my ears in snow..The inlaws report that my trailer is just a lump in the snow. .The
last freezing rain/snow mix put down about 5 inches of the
stuff..which then immediately froze on top...Night time temps
are still searching for the bottom of my thermometer.
Had to take Mother and the wife to the doctors for a looksee.
Going down the driveway the car kept breaking thru the crust
felt like two tires were flat and the other two were square.
The stuff under the crust is like minature ball bearings, therefore
my car sits about two thirds of the way up the driveway...Just out
of reach of the extension cord for the block heater.
In addition my load of wood has not been delivered yet and I am
down to about enough for another two days.
Planning the first fishing trip...Heck...I'm still in survival mode.
Spent about 8 hours yeasteday on the computer installing high
speed internet...It normally takes about 10 minutes...Turns out
someone forgot to flip a switch at the service providers..At 11PM
I finally had a connection.
My first expedition will be May 4th to the Little Southwest Miramichi
to dip a few smelts, clean the trailer, etc.....and maybe a little casting
practice on the black salmon......And of course check if Ray is around.
