Soft hackles flies are definitely my preferred style of flies..I dont just swing them. I add movement by keeping rod tip down and flicking the tip on the last 3/4s of the swinging while retrieving hand over hand. It adds a pop to the first fly similar to a moving emerger trying to break the surface film and if I am using a dropper it is usually about four feet down and the flicking motion makes this fly look like it is rising/struggling to the surface...

Is there your own fly Mike? The Copper Mike. Hmm What about a Copper Dave, has a good sound to it. Mr. Green

I think we all have own variations of flies, I have tied a few that work wounderful but I have no name for them. I am glad to see mike ,your catching fish on your fly. I think that is so cool.

The best kind. Have you ever tied something so ugly you just laugh but when you decide to fish it the thing catches a ton of fish ?
