Greatest part of fly tying taking a proven pattern and giving it your own touch . Well done .
That's a lot of tying! I have a hard time staying at it. Jack and I tied up a few grey ghosts before Christmas. Gave them to my brother in law to use on Winni this spring. Had good luck last year. I barely made a dent in all the bass flies I tied last season.
Hope you're starting to thaw out a bit Stephen. We've managed to avoid the frozen pipes but are working our way through the woodpile pretty quick.
Nope, its a modified X-caddis minus the tail with foam wrapped underneath the dubbing and then layed back on top after. Floats like a son of a gun and doesn't flop over like EHC tend to.
The nymph is another mod of mine, its a flashback Pheasant Tail with a red head and a maribu tail instead of the standard PT fibers. I found that after 12 or so fish my classic PT's were getting all beat up pretty bad, so I swapped in a more durable material.
The fish seemed to love em, and they help up real good to some serious abuse from some fiesty native brookies.
